Safe work practices for clinical staff: The 1, 2, 3, Move Approach. Part 2: The practical session. Trainer’s Toolkit—How to teach lifts, transfers and repositioning
The Trainer’s Toolkit is a resource designed for long-term care Homes to provide guidance to their educators in the development of a practical session for Safe Lifts, Transfers, and Repositioning within the Home. The Practical Session is the second component of a two part resource. Part 1 is an e-learning module that focuses on how to prepare yourself, the resident, and your environment before moving the resident as well the principles of good communication and body mechanics through various scenarios. The e-module is titled Safe Work Practices for Clinical Staff: The 1, 2, 3 , Move Approach, and is a pre-requisite to the practical session. Participants will then have the opportunity to apply/practice what they have learned from the e-module during the Practical Session. This e-learning module can be downloaded at no cost from the Ontario Centre’s for Learning, Research and Innovation in Long-Term Care’s joint website: www.clri-ltc.ca under Resources. The content within the trainer’s resource consists of general information and templates shared by Bruyère that can be applied to any health care setting. However, there are instances where the educator will need to insert information as it pertains to their facility. Funded by the Government of Ontario through the Bruyère Centre for Learning, Research and Innovation in Long-Term Care.
