“Transitions to LTCH for Older Adults with Nicotine Dependence”

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • To define nicotine dependence and gain an understanding on how nicotine effects the brain
  • Adapt evidence based approaches to nicotine dependence in older adults who are transitioning from community to Long Term Care
  • To identify appropriate pharmacological and psychosocial interventions for nicotine dependent older adults
  • To discuss how to use Nicotine Replacement Therapy for patients with dementia

These rounds provide a learning forum to review leading practices in the assessment and supportive management of challenging, responsive behaviours; and offer practical approaches to support the work of front-line healthcare providers in caring for persons with responsive behaviours.

 

Baycrest Behavioural Support Rounds occur every 3rd Thurs. of the month from Oct. – June.
The next round in this series is planned for May 18th.
