Presenter:

Dr. David K. Conn is the Vice-President of Education and Director of the Centre for Education & Knowledge Exchange at Baycrest, and a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto.

He is founding co-chair of the Canadian Coalition for Seniors’ Mental Health and Past President of the Canadian Academy of Geriatric Psychiatry.

 

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the prevalence of substance use disorders (SUDs) among older adults
  • Outline some key challenges and interventions related to SUDs among older adults
  • Discuss the creation of new Canadian Guidelines focused on this topic

These rounds provide a learning forum to review leading practices in the assessment and supportive management of challenging, responsive behaviours; and offer practical approaches to support the work of front-line healthcare providers in caring for persons with responsive behaviours.

 

Baycrest Behavioural Support Rounds occur every 3rd Thurs of the month from Oct – June.
