Education & Mentorship Program: Enhancing clinical nursing leadership in LTC

RPNs and RNs from the Champlain LHIN are invited to a free 2-day session* at the Saint-Louis Residence in Orleans, ON.

First Session – Wednesday, February 11th, 2015 • 8 am – 4 pm

At the end of this session, participants will:

– Be able to describe principle of leadership.
– Be able to descrbe their personal leadership style and skills, and discuss the importance of leadership in the workplace.
– Be more comfortable and confident using communications skills for delegation, conflict resolution and empowerment of colleagues in the workplace.
– Have increased confidence to implement leadership strategies in the workplace.

Second Session – Wednesday, March 4th, 2015 • 8 am – 4 pm **

At the end of this session, participants will:

– Be able to describe the concept of mentorship and relate it to their personal professional development.
– Identify facilitators and challenges to implementing leadership practices in their workplace, in conjunction with someone working in a leadership role within their LTC home.
– Describe strategies to address barriers in implementing leadership practices in their workplace.
– Develop a plan for mentorship after the workshop including identifying a leadership mentor, and approaches for initiating the mentorship relationship.
– Identify personal objectives for moving forward to implement leadership practices in their workplace.

* Nurses are required to attend both sessions.
** Your direct supervisor is required to attend session #2 from 12 pm to 4 pm.
