The Preceptor Resource and Education Program in Long-Term Care (PREP LTC) empowers Ontario’s long-term care (LTC) homes with support to boost the quality and quantity of clinical student placements.
First launched in 2021, PREP LTC’s goals are to tackle clinical placement shortages, find solutions to remove barriers and increase capacity for clinical placements, provide a positive, high-quality experience for students and preceptors, and recruit and retain the next generation of team members to LTC.
Three years into our mandate, together with LTC homes and teams, PREP LTC has accomplished a lot. With this in mind, the Ontario CLRI is proud to share PREP LTC’s impact from 2021-2023. This snapshot showcases the excellent work PREP LTC is doing to empower LTC homes to build in-house capacity for quality clinical student placements.
PREP LTC is led by the Ontario Centres for Learning, Research and Innovation in Long-Term Care (Ontario CLRI) at the Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging in collaboration with the Ontario CLRI teams at Baycrest Academy for Research and Education and the Bruyère Research Institute.
