Everyone in LTC is involved in a palliative approach to care and needs to feel confident having difficult conversations with residents and care partners. Achieve effective communication, based in cultural humility that recognizes the background and identity of each resident. Understand the difference between palliative and end-of-life care and how all interprofessional team members contribute. Reflect on your values around dying, death and grief, and acknowledge grief in caregivers as well as residents and families. A grief-friendly workplace creates a better environment for everyone involved in LTC. Accredited for 9 credits through the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA).
