Pain and distress can significantly affect a resident’s quality of life and often require clinical assessment and intervention. This course explores the different types of pain, including physical, emotional, social, and spiritual, as well as the concept of Total Pain.
You will learn how to assess and reassess pain and distress, including for residents with cognitive impairment, and apply both pharmacological and non-pharmacological strategies. Through scenarios and interactive activities, you will build confidence in identifying pain, communicating with the care team, and supporting residents who may experience pain or distress.
