Team members and students in health care need quick and easy access to information to do their job well, but COVID infection control measures made paper copy tools and references a thing of the past. With COVID bringing in more new and redeployed staff to LTC homes, how do we support team members with resources while working in LTC?
The Ontario Universal Resource App for LTC (OurLTC App) is a free, digital resource tailored for LTC by LTC. Phase one will target PSWs, Resident Support Aides and nurses new to LTC, but the resources can also be used by the entire LTC team as an on-the-job refresher in any given LTC topic or standard of care.
The App gives team members a wealth of reference materials at their fingertips when they need it most, including care tips and short videos, guides, etc. The App supplies teams with digital curated, quality resources (and Ontario CLRI promoted events!) that are specific to LTC, with an emphasis on reference materials specific to COVID-19 care, such as:
• Proper donning/doffing of PPE
• How to dress a resident living with dementia
• How to properly wash hands
• Various outcome measures (e.g. Geriatric Depression Scale)
The OurLTC App will be available in May 2021 from the App Store and Google Play!
The OurLTC App is powered by the Accelerator for Learning Inter-Professionally in Healthcare App (ALPHA) which was developed as a partnership between the Ontario CLRI at Baycrest, George Brown College, Ryerson University, and Baycrest, as part of an eCampus Ontario grant.
