One Day is an education session that helps team members learn how to build a person-centred culture in their LTC home. This day-long, virtual training will equip long-term care team members with the knowledge and skills needed to foster a more person-centred approach in their care provision and among their teams.

The course is unique because it was co-developed with people living and working in senior living settings, and subject matter experts in education, facilitation and culture change.

Outcomes

  • Understand the concept of person-centred care and communication strategies that support the practice.
  • Be familiar with the impacts of ageism and unconscious biases.
  • Know how to create opportunities for meaningful engagement for residents of their LTC home regardless of ability
  • Have identified four action-focused strategies to immediately implement a person-centred approach to care in their work.

“I learned the importance of person-centred care, and I am excited to use it by listening more closely to residents’ preferences and involving them in decisions about their daily care.

“If I use what I learned, I expect better communication, stronger relationships, increased resident comfort, and a more positive and supportive care environment.“
