The Virtual Job Shadowing Package for New Hires in LTC (LIPHA)
Jump to a section:
The Ontario CLRI Virtual Job Shadowing Package for New Hires in LTC is a new form of virtual learning that enables learners to apply evidence-based resources to simulated cases through gaming. Learners will safely rehearse true-to-life healthcare scenarios with instant feedback, gaining confidence in caring for residents and families.
What is the challenge?
Team members and students in long-term care need quality training to do their job well. They need to work together in teams to make sure residents get excellent care. Team members and students who are new to the sector also need orientation to what working in LTC is all about with quick, new ways of learning to meet challenges.
How can we help?
The Ontario CLRI at Baycrest developed and tested the Virtual Job Shadowing Package for New Hires in LTC as a new way of learning with George Brown College, Toronto Metropolitan University, and Launch57. The Virtual Job Shadowing Package for New Hires in LTC is a virtual platform or app with easy-to-access, high-quality training for healthcare team members and students.
How does it work?
Compatible with Surge Learning, the meta-simulation software combines simulation-, case-, team-, and story-based learning where learners can practice true-to-life healthcare scenarios, receive instant feedback, and gain confidence in caring for residents and families as part of an interprofessional team. Virtual Care Simulations help new team members deepen and apply their skills while understanding their role, the team, and the culture of long-term care.
