Sylvia Ciechanowski, Audiologist, Doctor of Audiology, AuD, M.Sc., B.Sc. Reg. CASLPO
Sylvia earned her Doctor of Audiology degree from A.T. Still University in January, and holds a Master’s in Audiology from Dalhousie University.  Inspired by a family member’s hearing loss, she is passionate about patient-centered care, accessibility, and inclusion. She has worked in diverse clinical settings, including Baycrest Hospital, a major hearing aid manufacturer, as well as with the NHS in the United Kingdom. Sylvia also works part-time as a live captioner and volunteered with the Hear the World Foundation in Haiti to fit hearing aids at the Haiti Deaf Academy and in the community.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of the presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the impact of untreated hearing loss on health, communication, and quality of life
  • Learn about how the hearing screening tool facilitates early identification of hearing loss and access to health care
  • Learn how to integrate the hearing screening tool into your practice to help patients overcome common barriers in seeking hearing help
