This page spotlights funding programs from the Ontario CLRI for Ontario LTC homes to receive funding via wage support or training costs for continuing education, training and/or mentorship initiatives. PREP LTC

The Preceptor Resource and Education Program in Long-Term Care (PREP LTC) provides long-term care (LTC) homes funding to help increase the quality of and capacity for clinical student placements in Ontario.

Applications for funding for 2025-26 student placements are now open! This year, in addition to unlimited PREP LTC eLearning Course funding, LTC homes can receive up to $50,000 in student placement coordination support and/or backfill/honoraria.

Eligibility: Homes that have had active student clinical education placements for PSWs, RNs, RPNs, PNs and IENs and SPEP candidates.

Personal Support Worker Education Fund for Long-Term Care

PSW Education Fund

The PSW Fund provides tuition and backfill to train LTC team members through virtual and in-person continuing education, which develops and fosters a skilled, motivated, and resilient workforce.

Education options are available for all team members:

Eligibility: All LTC homes in Ontario can enroll for funding for tuition and backfill for PSW and other team members.

CEoL Education Fund

The Communication at End-of-Life Education Fund for Long-Term Care (CEoL Education Fund) provides backfill funding to enhance team members’ competencies in providing both palliative care and end-of-life care to residents and their families. The CEoL Education Fund includes bilingual learning materials and programs to enhance palliative care in LTC homes: virtual training, eLearning, webinars and direct support.

Virtual Job Shadowing Package for Long-Term Care

Virtual Job Shadowing Package Funding

The Virtual Job Shadowing Package for Long-Term Care is an innovative virtual training solution that combines leading practices in simulation and game-based learning to accelerate training and orientation processes for PSWs and nurses in LTC homes. Through the PSW Education Fund, Ontario long-term care homes can receive backfill pay support for newly hired PSWs enrolled.

Living Classroom

The Living Classroom is a partnership model that integrates personal support worker education into a long-term care home to support workforce development in senior living. Students, faculty, and those living, visiting and working in the home engage in a culture of shared learning. Students gain real-life experience and are well prepared for a career in senior living. Residents, families and team members from the home benefit from student engagement and provide mentorship opportunities.

Eligibility: Ontario long-term care homes, long-term care management organizations, public colleges, career colleges, Indigenous learning institutes, and adult and continuing education school boards.
