The onset of a life-altering illness can be a difficult transition; applying a palliative approach can help individuals. This course is an introduction to long-term care team members about the five principles of palliative care: focus on quality of life, holistic, the earlier the better, team approach, and person-centered care. You will have the foundational elements to communicate and better understand the difference between palliative care and end-of-life care. This will enhance team members’ skills to better communicate with interprofessional team members, residents, and caregivers.
