This page provides learning resources for anyone who trains environmental services (housekeeping) team members who will be working in long-term care (LTC).
EVS team members play a vital role in supporting Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) and interacting with residents, particularly those living with dementia. The resources developed by the Ontario CLRI reflect and support this important role.

Checklists and eLearning

Illustrated Checklists for Environmental Services Orientation
The resource is a set of checklists for cleaning and sanitizing long-term care homes while following best practices. The checklists were co-developed with an IPAC specialist, as well as EVS managers, after consultation with EVS team members.

Resident Interaction Microlearning for Environmental Services Team Members
Learners will explore seven resident interaction scenarios team members commonly encounter and suggestions on how to respond. This short, interactive activity will take approximately 7 minutes and is open to all.

This resource is targeted at environmental services leaders. It can be used during huddles or team member meetings for review or during training of new team members.
